Hey Y’all!
What an incredible journey we had to the town of War, West Virginia in August! Eight of us loaded up two truck-loads, plus a trailer-full of clothing and school supplies for the underprivileged people of this remote community. It was a 6-hour trip each way, and we came home tired, yet refreshed in the knowledge that these items made a difference in their lives! Our guide was Sherry Keith, who has been committed to this ministry for many years. This was a church-sponsored trip and many folks within Good News Community Church (GNCC), and others gathered school supplies and clothing to donate. We presented most of the items to Pastor Cecil of Lighthouse Community Church, and he will in turn distribute them to those most in need. While at the church, we praised the Lord through hill country gospel music. We also shared a “Cup of Faith” together, in remembrance of Him. Don had the opportunity to play the base wash tub, which is an actual instrument! Pastor Cecil and his wife were so kind as to prepare us a meal of pinto beans, corn bread, and fresh tomatoes. They have so little, yet they were so generous with us. That really touched our hearts. Towards the end of our time there, Pastor Cecil led us into a few “Hollers”. It was a thrill for us to be able to pass out notebooks, paper, pencils, markers, and most of all CANDY to the children there! It was a great time of fellowship had by all!
On the home front, we have been Greeters at the front door of the church for both services. What a great way to get to know people! We are praying about doing one ministry trip this fall, to serve with Mission Builders international (MBI). However, at this time, we are unsure as to where that may be. We hope that in 2011, we will be able to take several trips to serve with MBI.
At the present time, the LORD is directing us to serve Him with Good News Community Church as missionaries, and with Mission Builders International (YWAM). Again, let us say that this is not a salary position, so we are continuing to raise support… We are now at 88% of what we need each month. We’re almost fully-funded, and we’d appreciate your prayers for the remaining 12%. Thanks so much!
You can invest in God’s Kingdom through us. Your financial support to us is Tax-Deductible. Please make the check out to Good News Community Church, and attach a ‘post-it note’ with our names. They will be processing our support money, and receipts will be sent out at year’s end.
Serving Him Together,
Don and Beverly

Dear Partners for the Kingdom,
It seems that we are always in transition in our lives….we have been on the road again! We started off on Tuesday, April 13th from Oceanside, CA, on a cross-country journey that ended up taking 18 days! This trip was meant to be dual-purposed: visiting friends and also, seeking God, as to our next ministry location. Our first stop was in Phoenix, AZ, to visit our friend, Donna. The next day was a LONG day of driving to the small town of Gateway, Colorado to stay overnight with two very special missionary friends, Chick and Lynda! Our third day, we headed to YWAM Heartland in Kansas City, MO, where Mike and Caron were very gracious hosts to us. We then headed to Little Rock, Arkansas to spend time with Don’s cousin, Leonard (and the Best Man at our wedding in 1966!) who was dying of cancer. While in the Little Rock area, we spent a few days at the YWAM Base in Ozark, AR, where Jim and Barb were our very kind hosts. As we were driving back to the Little Rock Veterans Hospital, we received word that Don’s cousin had died that same day. We feel blessed that we had the to pray with him before, while he was alive. The family asked Don to officiate at his military funeral, which was very moving. Although it was a sad occasion, it was good to see family from MO, CO, and TX. All in all, we
ended up being in the Little Rock area for 12 days! Originally, it was not our plan, but God had other plans! On April 28th, we drove to Nashville, TN and visited the YWAM, Nashville Base . Once again, we were treated that famous YWAM hospitality by Tasha, and The Trabers! Finally, on April 30th, we arrived in Carthage, NC, the final leg of our trip. We’re still a bit tired, but little by little, we are getting settled. We will be working with Pastor Jim Boyte of Good News Community Church for a period of two to four months. During this interim period, we are praying and seeking God as to where He will have us serve next. We are still planning to look at two more YWAM Bases, as we look to God for our future placement.
Let us restate what we are going to be doing here in North Carolina. Pastor Boyte has been given the rights to a great software that could be used for global missions and training. This software has the capability of connecting
500 churches, mission agencies, missionaries and their supporters all at the same time in “real time.” Can imagine millions of people being informed and trained at the same time? The greatest cost in the business Christian world is on-going training, but with this software, you can have everyone learning on-line, at minimal costs. Travel costs, such as airfare and visas will be eliminated, as no one needs to travel to a far away missions conference. This is only one possible way of using this innovative software. There are many other ways that it could be used for the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, to fulfill the Great Commission of Matthew 28: 18-20.

Dear Family in Christ,
Many things happened when we were in North Carolina that guided us to our next step in missions.
We have recently decided to make a change and look for a new mission agency, but we are also open to relocating to another YWAM Base. The base here,
Youth With A Mission, Chico/ Springs of Living Water is primarily a retreat and conference center. The staff is required to work in their department, plus work in the conference center-side of the ministry. The work load has proven to be too much for Beverly. Her health has been affected, with her Psoriasis flaring up, along with some feet problems, making it difficult for her to be on her feet for long periods. Also, Don has been frustrated in not being able to use his spiritual gifts of administration and organizational skills to their full potential.
Our supporting church in NC has offered us a 2 to 4 month window to serve and help out at the church. Like you, they are and have been supporting us in our missions work. This is not a salary position. We will remain in the status as missionaries.
You may be wondering, “What are Don and Beverly going to be doing at the church?” The pastor, Jim Boyte has been given the rights to a great software
that could be used for global missions and training. We are excited about this! This software has the capability of connecting 500 churches, mission agencies,
missionaries and their supporters all at the same time in “real time.” Can you imagine millions of people being informed and trained at the same time?

I hope this gives you some idea of what we will be doing during this transition in our lives.

We will be making the transition right away. We hope to be serving with Pastor Jim Boyte at the end of April. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call us. Again, let us say that this is not a salary position. We are very grateful for your friendship and partnership with us.
